About the Museum and Library Collection

The Johnson County Museum of History houses over 20,000 objects, photographs, and documents relating to Johnson County’s past and present.  The collection includes an 1830s cabin, located next to the museum, and antique farm machinery housed at Sawmill Barn in Johnson County Park.  Many of these artifacts are on display in the museum's galleries.

Our genealogy and local history library contains a wealth of research materials, many of which are original documents, relating to Johnson County and surrounding regions.

The Johnson County Museum and Genealogy library are open year-round,

9:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday thru Friday and 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM on the second Saturday of each month.

Admission is free.

The Museum Gift Shop now accepts Visa and Mastercard!
