The Johnson County Museum, and Genealogy and local history library are open year-round,
Tuesday through Friday,
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM
Saturdays
10:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Admission is free of charge ($2 recommended donation). The museum is closed on all official Johnson County holidays.
The museum is wheelchair accessible from the entrance on the north side of the building (off the parking lot), and has elevator service to all levels.

The collection includes an 1830s cabin, located next to the museum, and antique farm machinery housed at Sawmill Barn in Johnson County Park.
Many of these artifacts are on display in the museum's permanent galleries. The museum also has a gallery for short-term exhibits featuring local artists, or local history.
On the ground floor, the genealogy and local history library contains a wealth of research materials, many of which are original documents, relating to Johnson County and surrounding regions.
The museum also boasts a lovely auditorium available for presentations and special events.

Looking to improve your woodworking skills? The museum will host a wood boat building workshop Saturdays 9 to noon from June 16th to July 21st.
